I can't say enough amazing things about Cafe Castro! Came to NM on vacation and this was our first meal - Boy, this set the bar high! We got some local beers, chile relleno, enchilada plate, side taco and complimentary sopapillos (I believe that's the correct name, ha!) Hands down the BEST Chile relleno I've ever had. WOW. The green sauce was amazing. Every person working was soo incredible. Everyone was so nice and hospitable. The restaurant is so cute, with such a great aesthetic and some beautiful art! Wish I could eat here again!! 10/10

Traveling through Santa Fe, staying one night. Checked Yelp for restaurants nearby the Coyote South hotel and Cafe Castro's name came up. Looked like good, family fare. We ordered online a Combo Plate and a Carne Adovada, a few extra tortillas, chips and Queso and 2 flan. I wish I had taken pictures before eating but we hadn't had lunch so we're extra hungry. We were not disappointed. The beef taco was crisp and had the right amount of spice in the beef filling. The cheese enchilada was perfect with the green chili sauce. Rice and beans were tasty. Queso wasn't what I was expecting but it was pretty tasty too. The Carnes Adovado was spicy hot but in a slow burn kind of way. Very delicious and satisfying. I haven't had posole in forever so it was a tasty reminder of how nice it can be. We haven't made it to the flan yet. I'll update when we get to dessert.

The chicken flautas were fried fresh and crispy, with a large portion size. The accompanying guacamole was also made with perfectly ripe avocadoes. I only wish they would up their salsa game. It's all tomato and no jalapeno, no cilantro. Tastes like Italian tomato sauce.

Definitely get the enchiladas, and the sauce is amazing! Save room for dessert, but at least try the sopapillas with honey. Outstanding. But the most amazing part is the service as they are absolutely five-star service and attentiveness

We were in Santa fe and Cafe Castro came highly recommended and I would say it did not disappoint. The restaurant is clean and family owned and run. Staff is very helpful and service was prompt. Food is priced very reasonably and made to order. Everything we tried was delicious, highly recommend to try stuffed Soppapia and red chill quesadilla. I highly recommend it and we shall come again when in NM.

Thankfully overlooked New Mexican cafe and a favorite. What it does well: Solid homestyle New Mexican food. They care about the food here. No pretensions, no hype. Where it suffers: Could have more New Mexican beers available. My advice: Blue Corn Enchilada Plate with an Egg. or Carne Adovada Plate.

One of my top five in Santa Fe. Small, locally owned, always excellent food and service. Today it was a pork tamale with beans and chili Riano with rice. Each was under $10. A delicious side of guacamole and chips completed the menu. Definitely recommend.
